Country Walking
at Caer Beris Manor
Wonderful Welsh Walks right at our hotel entrance. You might want to just enjoy
strolling in our grounds but there are many other walks which
you can take to explore the area. We have maps and routes at
the hotel which you are welcome to borrow.
Wye Valley Walk
There
is a new 'Passport Scheme' where if you complete the entire
walk
you will receive an exclusive enamel badge and certificate.
Details at www.wyevalleywalk.org.
Imagine one of the most beautiful fully waymarked long distance
walks in Britain where you hardly see another walker. That is
the case with the Wye Valley Walk which passes
close by our front door. Follow the Leaping Salmon signs and
the full walk will take you from the Source to the Sea, a distance
of 136 miles. Not something to attempt in a weekend!
Other Walks
Our area covers some of the most spectacular sections with a
mixture of riverbank paths and hillside walks looking down on
the river below and across towards Hay Bluff
and the English border.
The Elan Valley is
another major centre for walking which is set in the Cambrian
Mountains just a short drive away from the hotel. You
can explore this beautiful area with an extensive range of walks
around the massive reservoirs and dams which date back to Victorian
times. There are also walks throughout the year led by the Rangers
to give you a real insite into the valley.
Some walks visit the Roman Marching Camp or to the remains of
Nant y Gro dam where the Bouncing Bomb was
tested before the Dambusters raid. Most of these walks are free
of charge. See a full list at www.elanvalley.org.uk/
Wind down with a whisky from our bar!
